"From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised." Psalm 113:3

Meet Our Family

We are a homeschooling family of five that lives in Sunny (most of the time) Florida!

My hubby and I have been married now for sixteen years, and together for many more--ever since we met at Florida State long, long, long ago!  He is my best friend and the best choice I ever made!

Together we have three cool kiddos...

Our adorable Bug, who is six.  He is all boy and has truly been a gift to us.  He loves reading (yes, I know--we are blessed!), Legos, matchbox cars, sports, watching races with his Poppy, and talking.  He really, really, really likes to talk!

This is our feisty Firefly.  She is ten and definitely full of energy.  She loves anything active--swimming, Pogo-sticking, and soccer.  As a matter of fact, soccer and American Girl dolls are her two favorite obsessions.  Firefly was born with Sensory Processing Disorder, and although she has (and we have) lived with it all of her life, it is only now getting to a point that it is not a daily struggle.  She is a tough cookie, this one!

Our oldest, Turtle, is thirteen and going into eighth grade.  She is a bright, sweet young lady who loves soccer and hates math.  Recently she's begun to explore creative photography and writing, and is really excited about all of the new things she's learning to do with them.

We are going into our fifth year of homeschooling and I finally feel like I have a little bit of a handle on it!  When I'm not blogging or school planning (I am a Type A, borderline compulsive planner and organizer--if only my house would cooperate with my personality!), I am carpooling or sideline cheering as a full-fledged soccer mom.

What do I like to do outside of mommy-ing, teacher-ing, and chauffeuring?  Umm, let's see...I love to read, and my guilty pleasure is true crime books (eek!).  I try to exercise most days, but only so I can eat chocolate.  Lots and lots of chocolate.

Here, in our corner of the internet, I try to document lots of our homeschooling adventures.  I write curriculum reviews for the TOS Homeschool Review Crew, and do lots and lots of venting over the unfairness of living with SPD.  Then I counter that with lots of posts about my journey of becoming closer to God--which I'm pretty sure has a lot to do with needing Him so much since becoming a special-needs, homeschooling Momma.

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."  (Jeremiah 29:11)

It's been quite a ride so far--can't wait to see what's next!
