in our homeschool this week...we have been slowing down. Essentials is done for Turtle, and we have finished all we are going to do with our Drawn Into the Heart of Reading. We are still working through our math, science, history, and grammar for Firefly (such as it is, ha!). This week we learned about how snakes follow a scent trail,
We will be testing the third week of May, and my plan is to be finished up for the year right about then. Phew.
in my life this week...Man! As soon as we made the decision to send Turtle to middle school next year, seems we have been slammed right back into the public school water--in the deep end! I have spent three mornings this week up at our home elementary school, bringing Turtle to orientation meetings, having her take her math placement test (talk about nerve-wracking!), and going to a "parents of gifted children" meeting. Our home school, which is where both Turtle and Firefly went for some time, has been Wonderful (see, wonderful with a capital w, hee hee!) and so helpful in this process of "how-do-I-get-her-back-in-the-system-in-the-right-place?" So...we'll see what next week brings!
We also continue to soccer all week long, and have added swim team for Firefly and volleyball for Turtle--just because we had soooo much free time left!
places we're going and people we're seeing...you mean, besides the school? Well, we have managed to squeeze in some playdates, an impromptu trip to a frozen yogurt shop for snack, today's American Girl book club meeting, and a fun trip to a park with a nature trail (where Turtle decided she had an immense interest in photography all of a sudden, so here are some of her pics...)
Actually, this is the first time I've really looked at them. Very nicely done, Turtle!
my favorite thing about the week...last night, hands down. We didn't have to go anywhere, so Bug and my hubby and I went into the lake / pond / hole filled with water behind our house and spent about forty-five minutes fishing. And I caught a fish! And I didn't have my camera! Of course.
Bug is my witness, though! And it was a pretty big bass, if I do say so myself!
things i am grateful for...not hot weather yet, baby giggles, big fish (hee hee), baby birds, sweet hubbys.
things i am praying for...a friend's family who is deciding what to do about school next year for their little boy with autism, another friend beginning chemo, safe travels for some family members, a daughter's teammate whose family is struggling with a new divorce...
I hope you all had a wonderful week! Thanks for visiting!
